Lineal Selects Farsight to Replace Relativity Server

Global legal technology provider adopts the Swiss-built Farsight platform as the foundation of its on-premises eDiscovery infrastructure

KANSAS CITY, MO and SCHLIEREN, SWITZERLAND – SEPTEMBER 2, 2026 – Lineal, a global legal technology and eDiscovery partner serving law firms and corporate legal teams across five continents, today announced it has selected Farsight as its long-term replacement for Relativity Server. The Swiss-engineered platform will underpin Lineal’s on-premises and in-region infrastructure, giving clients a modern review environment wherever their data is required to sit.

With Relativity Server reaching end of life, providers must choose between a cloud they don’t control and a successor they can deploy on their own terms. Lineal evaluated the market and selected Farsight for its architecture, deployment flexibility and speed to stand up.

Built on Kubernetes with zero-downtime updates, Farsight runs on modest hardware, materially changing the cost of hosting on-premises workloads at scale. New environments are review-ready in a fraction of the time legacy deployments require, and the platform is compatible with the tools already in Lineal’s stack, including Nuix and Relativity.

Farsight joins Lineal’s portfolio rather than displacing what is already in it. Lineal remains one of a small number of partners to hold all four Relativity designations: Provider, Advisor, Distributor and Developer. It continues to deliver RelativityOne migrations and its proprietary Amplify™ Suite of Tools.

From a single package, Farsight runs in Lineal’s own data centers, in a client’s private cloud, in-region where residency demands it, or on portable units from a laptop to a full portable server, so the platform travels to the data rather than the other way around. That reach covers entire jurisdictions with no in-region cloud option, markets where local law, sector regulation or a client’s own security policy rules out a hosted platform, on-site collections inside a client’s facility, fully air-gapped environments, and volumes too large or retention too long to be economic in the cloud, all on the same interface reviewers use everywhere else. Lineal can now take on matters it would otherwise decline.

Every function is exposed through a fully open REST API with no gated tiers, letting Lineal’s engineers automate workflows, connect Farsight to Amplify and build client-specific integrations. The same applies to AI: Lineal can connect the commercial model best suited to a matter, or run one on-premises within its own infrastructure, keeping evidence inside the security perimeter where a third-party AI service is not an option.

“Our clients don’t all live in the same regulatory reality. Some matters can go to the cloud tomorrow; others will never leave a specific jurisdiction, or a specific building. Relativity Server’s sunset forced the industry to answer that honestly, and Farsight was the only platform that gave us a genuinely modern review experience without asking us to compromise on where the data sits,” said Major Baisden, CEO of Lineal.

“Lineal handles matters most providers wouldn’t take on, and teams like that don’t want a platform dictating how they work. We built Farsight to be open: a full REST API with nothing held back, and the freedom to bring your own AI model, including one running inside your own four walls. Being selected as Lineal’s long-term Relativity Server replacement tells us that approach is right,” said Mattias Aggeler, CEO of Farsight.
